The Best of September & October So far…..
….well, according to us anyway! September was a pretty sparse month as far as good movies go, however October has produced a few gems. Our favourites of non Sims 2 machinima have to be:
~ “Slapdash 2″ from PHW Comics, can be viewed on machinima.com. You’ll never see Bognor Regis in the same light again for those viewers who are Brits and if you’re not a Brit, grab one to do a quick translation and enjoy the hilarity
~ “PEDS Just a Short 4: Hot Coffee” can viewed on Machinima Premiere, is a bit of a parody of the recent controversy over video games. It has some of the best and most convincing voice acting we’ve heard in a while.
From The Sims 2 community: I was surprised to see the most creative and watchable series or two part piece this year, a totally all original production, from the storyline to the music.! It certainly makes up in entertainment value what it lacks on a few minor technical matters and since this is only their second film, I can imagine that future films will be something to look out for. It’s a variation on the teen angst theme with a twist or a twisted teen, depends on how you look at it.

One of our favourite Sims 2 directors, CrystalWitchery has once again produced a movie that looks very different to the majority of Sims 2 movies, with all the usual fine detail she pays to set design and costumes in her interpretation of the comic book character, Blade. It also goes to show that a good director can overcome the limitations of sim interactions and the need for expensive editing software to create a quality movie.

~ “Let Go” from megsimadic, featuring Frou Frou is beautiful to look at with wonderful imagery, despite the sad theme.

April Lavigne’s “Skater Boy” from jaydee, is a well executed music video and terrific effort especially considering it’s a first movie, truly deserved the Sims 99 “Movie of the Month” for September and made a refreshing change to see a newcomer grab the spotlight and get the praise they deserve.

And finally, a promising horror trailer. I wouldn’t normally review a trailer, since the majority of Sims 2 trailers never make it to a finished product, but the editing and sets on this one caught my attention:
“Miner’s Rest” from JixTS2
