Bloodspell Finally Released
I can’t really let this go unmentioned as it’s such as achievement not just by machinima standards, Bloodspell from Strange Company, the largest machinima film ever created has begun it’s release with episode one.

“In this first episode, you’ll be introduced to the world of BloodSpell, where the “Blooded” carry magic in their blood, which comes out when their blood is spilled, and they are hunted by the Church of the Angels.
A few fun facts about BloodSpell:
- The director, Hugh Hancock, also founded Machinima.com and coined the term “Machinima” (with Anthony Bailey).
- Over 10,000 man-hours of work have gone into the production.
- Over 100 new characters and 7,000 new art assets were created for the production.
- In order to have our characters lipsynch, the opening of each filming day involves the cameraman walking around a room filled with disembodied heads.”
It’s truly a labour of love and has an impressive punk soundtrack. I’ve read a few criticisms of the Neverwinter Nights graphics looking dated, but in my opinion the fact that it’s an older engine and it’s still as entertaining as it is, makes this even more of an achievement. Definitely worth watching.
