Quite a while back, Overman asked me to write a little review on what OFB offered for machinimators. Unfortunately, I was waiting for my DCIFF copy to arrive and when I finally got a copy as a gift, I was a little disappointed at the lack of new features for movie-making, but not totally surprised.

I came across this fun X-Play snippet on YouTube, reviewing OFB. I’m currently loving this EP, although it’s not actually introduced a great deal for machinimators other than a few new cheat codes, it’s a great game within a game. I have two maps, one specifically for my movie sets, sim actors and extras and another for my “playable” sims. My playables have turned into a neighbourhood of shopkeepers and quit their day jobs. I’ve created everything from a “house of ill repute” (probably not what EA had in mind when they designed the EP, but it’s a lucrative business!), gym, art gallery and bakery.

I was also lucky enough to receive The Family Fun Stuff pack with my gift of OFB and it’s packed with cutesy costumes and matching furniture sets, the kid’s stuff is particular nicely designed, once again nothing new for movie-making and if you’re only using The Sims 2 for machinima, then it’s not really worth the purchase.

I noticed today that EA have announced another mini -pack for release next month while we wait for the Pets EP (rumoured to be released mid October) and give them something to spend their hard-earned OFB cash on. “Glamour Life Stuff”. Once again, it’s not really anything special looking in comparison to some of the terrific free custom content out there and reminds me a little of the original Sims ‘Living It Up” content:
