Machinima Artists @ Virb
It seems I’m hell bent lately on finding things to do online in the evenings that I really don’t have time for, while I wait to get started on our newest project. Even the TV has been taken over by the internet, as my sons bought a wireless access point and are enjoying the novelty of surfing on the TV using their Wii. I must admit, we’ve been having a lot of fun with the “retro” Nintendo games they’ve downloaded.
I eventually got around to claiming my virtual apartment in Kaneva . Good news is it has big windows and the largest widescreen TV I could buy, with a view to playing our machinima movies on…ohh and there is a mall! Not so good news is my avatar can’t interact with any of the furniture, I assume this is a temporary thing and at my son’s insistence my avatar is decked out in Goth attire, with skull and crossbones emblems, I can’t say it’s really me. I’m not going to write too much about Kaneva at this point, as I need to test it out more than the one time and it’s still in the very early stages of beta.
Secondly, I’ve signed up to yet another social networking site that’s in beta. Friendly as I am I’ve never really gotten into the MySpace thing. Anyway, I’ve decided ..I <3 Virb! It seems to be everything a site like MySpace should have been. It’s sleek, yet trendy. If you have CSS skills, you can completely customise your profile so it’s unrecognisable from the basic template (though even the basic profile page is spiffy looking) and it seems to have attracted an unusually large amount of web/graphic designers and creative types. If you feel like looking me up, find me here and I’ve created another Machinima Artists group. Features for groups are in the works, so far it looks promising.
Ooops almost forgot (shame on me to forget, with over half the family half, quarter, or teeny bit Irish at least), Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Reminder to kids: Mother’s Day tomorrow, well in the UK anyway ;).
